Oh dear!
If Schalke can win this weekend, they will have one hand on the trophy, (or indeed be crowned champions if Stuttgart lose and Bremen don’t win). But to win they have to travel to their bitter rivals Dortmund. If ever there was a game to spark the imagination, this is it. With a home win, Dortmund’s season would be saved, local bragging rights restored, fans would go home happy, AND Schalke may fail again. A game to look forward to (or to get nervous about if you are a Schalke fan).
Schalke’s other local rivals, Bochum, could do them a big favour by beating Stuttgart. How ironic! Meanwhile Bremen, who have just re-signed Torsten Frings for four more years, are at home to Frankfurt. This game should be interesting too, as Frankfurt are not safe yet, and need points.
My tips, since Damian and Damon are having a go, are Dortmund to win 2-1, Stuttgart 2-1 and Bremen 3-1
In the relegation places Aachen – Wolfsburg may decide who joins Moenchengladbach and Mainz in the 2nd Bundesliga next year.
A special footnote about the promotion race in the 2nd Bundesliga. Karlsruhe are already up, Rostock are second on 56 points and three teams locked on 54 points. It is going down to the wire there too. (Come on SC Freiburg!!)
This weeks games are:
Cottbus – Bayern
Nürnberg – Hamburg
Dortmund – Schalke
Hertha – Leverkusen
Bochum – Stuttgart
Mainz – M’gladbach
Bielefeld – Hannover
Bremen – Frankfurt
Aachen – Wolfsburg

I thought Wembley was the ‘home of football’?
I agree with you ED. Good luck to the north-west team! The home of football!
..it’s only a game, isn’t it?
Mmmmm ???
Good luck to Blackpool at the weekend in the play-offs. Nine wins in a row now, and 13 away wins for the season.
A little surprising to see all those German fans blubbering in the stands over the weekend… It’s only a game, isn’t it…??
