What does "coax" mean in football? 90+1 min Five minutes of added time. Fernandes coaxes a clever pass into Andre Silva, who controls it on the chest but is dispossessed before he can have a shot.

This is an interesting phrase and not so common in football. The basic meaning in this sentence is to pass the ball to a team mate but the idea of coaxing the ball suggests the pass was maybe a difficult one to do - the word 'clever' used to describe the pass adds to this idea. I am also not sure that this kind of pass would be a long pass so maybe a through ball or short ball around the box instead.
