Hello everyone. I don't understand the following words:
Ends.
To whip.
To pinball.

Also, I'm confused by the function of "in" as in "whip in a free kick", "curl in a cross", etc. How does "in" work?

44: Chances at both ends. Adam Campbell and Jonathyn Quinn go close for the hosts before McCallum heads just over. 0-1.

Fanimo whips a free kick in which pinballs around the six yard box. It hits the post and out. 1-2.

Ends = the two ends of the pitch refer to where the goal is. Sometimes you will hear 'kicking in to the home end' which means where the home fans are gathered.
To whip = to cross the ball with pace/speed
To pinball = this means that the ball is moving around the area in an uncontrolled fashion

Your question about 'in' means that the ball is going towards the goal
