In a recent post here at languagecaster we featured the cliche - 'not that type of player' and after Pedro received a red card last week in the Community Shield some pundits suggested that he was 'not that type of player', i.e. he is not usually a dirty player. What other examples can you think of where someone has been described as 'not that type of player'?
Here is former Liverpool defender Jaimie Carragher talking about what the phrase 'not that type of player' means - he suggests that all players can be 'that type of player', i.e. tackle really hard (Independent April 1st 2017).
We also wrote about this in our football-language glossary
