What is the meaning of the verbs "plough" and "pour" in football?

53' Watford's changes have had little effect in terms of reversing the general direction of the game, but Ranieri surely felt as though he had to act. City continue to plough forward regardless.

55 min Everton pour forward again, Coleman opening angle and body for a far post curler that shrieks just wide

Both of these words are connected, especially when used with the particle 'forward', and they mean that a team is attacking quite a lot.

I think the phrase 'pour forward' is more commonly used - the team poured forward in search of the equaliser/the winning goal for example. There is also a suggestion that it involves lots of players - I am not sure we would say that one player poured forward, for example. Plough forward, for me, suggests that a team continues to attack in numbers.
