What is the meaning of the phrase "strike for" and "land" in this sentence?

From a Leeds corner, the ball breaks to Forshaw outside the area. He strikes for goal and it takes a deflection, and lands at the feet of Gelhardt. He swivels and shoots, the ball hits Kane's arm. Every Leeds player surrounds Andre Marriner but after a quick VAR check, there's no case to answer

- A strike = a shot
- A strike for goal/ a strike on goal = an attempt on goal; a shot on goal
- To land = to arrive; so to land at the feet of a player means that the ball has arrived at the feet of another player
