I have seen the word 'relegate' used as a verb - Team A relegated Team B.

- Leeds have been relegated
- Leeds are relegated
- Tottenham relegated Leeds (This suggests that Leeds were relegated because of the defeat to Tottenham; that Tottenham were involved in this relegation).
