Teaching ideas (Week 2): New-look side

Here are some ideas to use this week's podcast in which we talk about a new-look side. Let us know how you would use these resources - remember that we have an audio, a transcript and some vocabulary explanations. 

• Vocabulary focus: New players and new teams. At the start, you can ask students to share if their team has signed any new players; which team they think has bought some good players; which team they think might struggle because there are too many new faces.
• Listening for gist: Before showing the transcript, ask students to note which teams are mentioned in the report (and in a positive or negative way).
• Listening for details: Pick out one of the sections from the listening and create a gap-fill activity (maybe you can take away some words connected to transfers).
• Talking about new-look sides: have students write some sentences describing teams using the vocabulary from the podcast.
