What does 'To reckon' mean when making predictions in football?

To reckon means that someone has an opinion on something or they feel that something will happen. It is like an informal way of saying 'I think'.
We often use it when making predictions inn football:
- I reckon City will win this one
- I don't reckon United will get through
Example: 'I reckon we're probably five wins away from securing something which would be quite magical' (BBC)
