Fluke
This means that something in the game has only happened because of luck – a lucky shot or pass for example can be described as a fluke goal or fluke pass. Sometimes the adjective form ‘flukey‘ will be used.
- Example: The attacker admitted that his goal had been a fluke as he had meant to cross the ball instead.
- Example: The keeper saved the shot but the rebound hit his own defender and then rebounded into the net – a real flukey goal.
