Amazing as it seems, Frankfurt can hit the lead in the Bundesliga (at least for one night) if they win tonight against Bochum. They have made a surprisingly good start to the season, much like Bielefeld, and are looking down the table to more fancied rivals.
These include champions Stuttgart, who travel to Bremen. This should be the top game of the weekend as both suffered defeat in the Champions League midweek and both are yet to fulfil their promise. Schalke, another sleeping giant, hopes to wake up in time to beat Bielefeld, though there seems to be trouble brewing – the home fans are getting restless. Bayern, yet to be beaten, have an away game against Karlsruhe. An interesting point here. This is the club where one Oliver Kahn came through the junior ranks. He wil be making his last visit before retiring.
At the foot of the table Rostock have yet to pick up a point, but have a chance against mid-table Duisburg. Meanwhile the other two relegation places are filled by Cottbus and Wolfsburg who meet in what is definitely a 6-pointer.
Bochum – Frankfurt
Schalke 04 – Bielefeld
Bremen – Stuttgart
Hamburg – Nürnberg
Hertha BSC – Dortmund
Cottbus – Wolfsburg
Rostock – Duisburg
Hannover – Bayer
Karlsruhe – Bayern

Sadly for Frankfurt it wasn’t to be – a draw and a loss have put them where we might expect to see them in the table. Meanwhile, Bayern are living up to the pre-season hype and scoring for fun – 9 goals in their last 2 games – and the only unbeaten side. Can they keep it up?
