Unlike other leagues, the Bundesliga has a winter break over the Christmas, New Year period. This weekend is, therefore, the last round of games this year. The break gives all clubs the chance to take stock, and to prepare for the new year. This means that new players and managers are given a time to settle in. Expect to see some movement in the Bundesliga soon.
The title ‘Herbstmeister’ (Autumn champion) is given to the top team. Looks like it will be Bremen this year.
This weekend’s games are:
Bochum – Gladbach 2:0
Bielefeld – Schalke 0:1
Hertha – Frankfurt 1:0
Mainz – Bayern 0:4
Cottbus – Stuttgart 0:0
Nürnberg – Hannover 3:1
Aachen – Hamburg 3:3
Dortmund – Leverkusen 1:2
Bremen – Wolfsburg 2:1

In the 40 years of Bundesliga, the Herbstmeister has gone on to win the title 25 times. Not totally convincing, but not a ‘false’ title either. Mind you, apart from the name it has no meaning whatsoever.
Do the autumn champions usually win the overall championship or is it a ‘false’ title in every respect?
