Learn English Football Podcast: Premier League Previews

It’s our second show this season, and on this week’s podcast for learners of English we have three sections. First, in the main report section, Damian previews England’s top division – Which teams are potential champions, who will be the dark horse, and of course, who will face relegation. In the English for Football Phrase we look at the phrase ‘combine with’. And in the last section of the show, we feature several games from around Europe. Games includie a second leg Champions League qualifier – Arsenal v Fernerbahce and a big clash in the Premier League between Manchester United and Chelsea. We also, have a worksheet to go with this week’s main report and of course, transcripts and posts for all three sections.

  • Listen only to the main report here – the transcript, worksheet and vocabulary will help you understand key phrases and improve your language skills
  • Check out our predictions for week 2 here
  • Listen to this week’s football phrase ‘combine with’ here
  • Learn English by asking a footballing question or questions about the English language in our forum section
  • Football glossary – this is a huge collection of football vocabulary, football cliches and football phrases with definitions and examples. If you can’t find a phrase you want to understand, send us an email or comment and we’ll try to explain it for you.
