Introduction

DB: You are listening toA languagecaster.com’s football-language podcast.Hello everyone and welcome to theA Learn English Through Football podcast; the podcast for all those who love theA beautiful gameof football and who are aiming to improve their English language skills. My name’s Damon and I’m in slightly cooler Tokyo compared to last week, thankfully. The temperature has dipped under 30 degrees – it’s Sunday and yesterday I watched my team Liverpool take on Arsenal and get a fine 3-1 win. And I also watched a bit of rugby where England also had a good win over Ireland. Hopefully Ia€™m going to speak to Damian who is in Paris at and he is an Irishman through and through, hiya.

DF: Hi Damon and hello to all the listeners. I am actually in Paris where the weather is hot and sunny and the fans of PSG are wondering whether Neymar Jr will play for the club in their home match against Toulouse this evening or indeed whether the Brazilian star will still be at the club at the end of the transfer window, which of course closes at the end of the week. I didna€™t get to see any football yesterday but will be watching Tottenham versus Newcastle later on today. Oh, by the way, Tipperary are all-Ireland hurling champions after defeating Kilkenny last week so I was very happy indeed!

DB: Thata€™ll make up for the rugby loss!

DF: So, Damon, whata€™s on the show this week?

Line Up

DB: Well, we’ll start with our good, bad and ugly section before focusing on some football language – we have a football language quiz question and a football phrase to introduce. And we’ll finish with predictions, three from the Premier League, including the North London derby, Arsenal versus Tottenham, and a Serie A game between Juventus and Napoli.
