The good, the bad and the ugly – a weekly look at the football news – week 27

The Good

  • Little Sammy Lee takes over the managerial job from ‘Big Sam’ Allardyce at Bolton. Allardyce resigned with just two games to go in the season. Sammy Lee has a big game for his first match in charge. Bolton are away to battling West Ham. Check out some clips from Lee’s time at Liverpool here.
  • It was good for AC Milan who have turned around their season by walking all over manchester United on their way to the Champions League final where they will meet Liverpool. AC Milan v Man Utd and Liverpool v Chelsea videos.
  • Mexican club Pachuca, through to the FIFA World Club championship after winning the CONCACAF cup. Video.

The Bad

  • David Beckham gets a yellow card and was set to miss the big clash with Sevilla at the weekend, but (after the show was recorded), real Madrid win an appeal and he is free to play. Report.
  • Leeds are relegated to the 1st division (the old 3rd division) and their fans are involved in a pitch invasion. Video.

The Sad

  • Fabian Barthez was involved in a fight with Nantes fans after a group attacked his car as it left the club ground. He has left the city and his colourful career is now in doubt. Report. you can see why some fans were unhappy here.

The Ugly

  • Joey Barton assaults his teammate during practice leaving him unconscious and in need of hospital treatment. Manchester City have said he will be sacked and the victim, Ousmane Dabo, may sue the England player. Report.
