soft spot: to favour or like something or someone
e.g. Damon has a soft spot for the Chivas team in the MLS.

nail biting: extremely tense, so nervous that you are biting your nails!
e.g. Last seasona€™s FA Cup final was a nail-biting affair.

(to be) flying: to be doing very well
e.g. Derby County are flying at the moment in the Championship.

stewardship: leadership
e.g. Under Billy Daviesa€™ stewardship Derby have improved greatly.

mouth-watering ties: matches that you really look forward to watching
e.g. Damon complains that there are no mouth-watering ties in the 4th round of the Cup.

turning point: a moment during the season when a teama€™s destiny may change.
e.g. Maybe losing to Arsenal was a turning point in Liverpoola€™s season.

to be up for (it): to really want to do well
e.g. I hope that Spurs will be up for it against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final.
