In Group E, Cameroon broke the deadlock with the last kick of the game to send them through to the last 16. Both teams needed a win, but it was Nkout’s clinical finishing that was the difference. Her first was a delicious chip and the second a more powerful curler. In the other game from this group, the Netherlands overcame Canada 2-1 in a hard-fought game in Reims, The Canadian’s were awarded a penalty early in the game, only to have the decision overturned by VAR, and they also had a goal chalked off, disallowed, for offside. While Canada can feel a bit unlucky, the Dutch probably deserved the win. Both qualify anyway.
In Group F, the USA were up against Sweden. Most pundits thought this would be the first real test of one of the favourites. In the end, the US sealed top spot in the group comfortably and are looking ominous. A far more exciting game saw Chile chasing three goals to ensure a spot in the knock-out stages against a Thai side that had leaked 18 goals in two games. Two goals in the second half, one an own goal, set up a nail-biting last 10 minutes. The South Americans were handed the game on a plate with a late penalty, but Francisca Lara smashed her spot kick against the woodwork and the opportunity slipped through their fingers. Both Chile and Thailand’s competition is over.
2019 Womena€™s World Cup Language: Beat a player
In Cameroona€™s game against New Zealand, the game was heading for a draw until Ajara Nchout popped up in injury time and scored her second to send the African’s through to the last last 16. Nchout beat Ria Percival to open up space in the box hitting a curler for the winner. To beat a player means to go past them, and this can be done with pace or with skill. Nchout did it with close ball control, dribbling past Percival. It was a great goal to cap an exciting game.
2019 Women’s World Cup Predictions

The play offs start on the 22nd and the first two matches are Germany versus Nigeria in Grenoble, and Norway against Australia in Nice.
