Hello, everyone. I don't get hold of the following words. To chest down. To put the ball on a plate. To sting the palms. What do all three mean? 3' GOOD SAVE! Cahill chests down Lallana's curling cross from right to left and puts the ball on a plate for Walcott, who stings the palms of Aksalu from just inside the penalty area with a sweet volley.

To chest down - sometimes a player uses the chest to control the ball and to chest the ball down means to control the ball in such a way that the ball stops in front of the player.
To put the ball on a plate is a great phrase that is used when a player passes the ball in a very accurate way for another player - almost a perfect pass.
To sting the palms - a strong shot that the keeper saves (to sting here means to hurt a little bt).
