Half-time
This is the break between the first and second half of a match. It usually lasts around 15 minutes and is a time for managers to give instructions to their team and for players to rest and prepare for the second half. If a team has not played well in the first half then half-time is a good chance for them to re-group and often this team will then play better in the second half. Sometimes half-time is known as the interval or simply the break.
- Example: The half-time team talk is an important part of a manager’s job.
- Example: The half-time break usually lasts for about 15 minutes
- Example: Germany were leading Brazil 5-0 at half-time in the 2014 World Cup semi-final.
