(to be) In with a shout
This English for Football phrase is to be in with a shout and it means to have a chance of doing well in something even though you may not be expected to do so. In football we use this expression to describe a situation when, for example, a team has fallen behind the leaders or may be losing in a match but people still think they may have a chance of catching up or winning. Avram Grant, the former Chelsea manager, said that his team were still in with a shout of winning the League despite being 7 points behind the leaders. I wonder if any of the non-league teams in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup are in with a shout of going through?
